The first trailer for Detachment starring Adrien Brody (Midnight in Paris, The Pianist) was released on December 22 with French subtitles.

Set in a high school, the story chronicles three weeks through the eyes of a substitute teacher dealing with teachers, students and administrators.

As a substitute, he avoids emotional connections or attachments to students and colleagues. But when a new assignment places him long-term in a permanent position, his ambivalence dissolves.

He becomes a role model as a teacher who cares about the well-being of the students, helping a young female who runs away, confronting other students, and interacts with fellow teachers and the principal.

The film directed by Tony Kaye (American History X) costars Christina Hendricks (Drive), Bryan Cranston (Contagion), Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Vol. 1) and James Caan (The Godfather).

Detachment toured several festivals and took the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film opens in France on February 1 and in North America in March.
