She has already starred in five international films, and actor Freida Pinto is now excited about her release, Trishna. Set in Rajasthan, the film also stars actor Roshan Seth and is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap.
The 27-year-old considers Trishna to be an Indian venture primarily, even though the film is directed by English filmmaker, Michael Winterbottom.
“I have done Trishna, so when people see it, they’ll know I’ve already done a Hindi film. Even Slumdog (Millionaire) for me is an Indian film. It was directed by an English director (Danny Boyle) but one cannot discredit the fact that there was Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan in the film.” Trishna will release in India soon, but no specific date has been set yet.
Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, the film has already garnered rave reviews from critics and fans abroad. Freida, who was last seen in director Tarsem Singh’s film Immortals, adds that she thoroughly enjoys Bollywood.
“The films are an amazing celebration. We have enjoyed them for years and at the moment, the industry is changing with directors like Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee.” she says.
