Ever since Freida Pinto has started her career, she has been shooting in some really offbeat places. So, if Slumdog Millionaire (2009) saw her roaming around the slums of Mumbai, director Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna (2011) put her in the interiors of Rajasthan.



In her forthcoming films too, she has wandered through the most offbeat locations.



Miral


Locations: Jerusalem and Tel Aviv


Freida arrived a month before the filming to get into character. She also studied Arabic for two to three weeks.



Black Gold


Locations: Tunisia, Qatar


She was shooting in Tunisia at the outbreak of the Arab Spring. Freida decided to stay stay on even after the revolution broke out. Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas will be seen playing her father.

The Catastrophist

Locations: Congo and other parts of Africa

The shooting starts in early 2013. Freida plays an Italian journalist in the film, which is based on Ronan Bennett’s novel about a love affair during a violent civil war.



The Desert Dancer

Locations: Parts of Iran

The film is about the Iranian dancer Afshin Ghaffarian. Freida plays Afshin’s (Reece Ritchie) mentor.
