The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards saw big wins, onstage drama in abundance and Hollywood in full attendance Ben Affleck, Daniel Day Lewis and Jessica Chastain might have taken home the big trophies, but their colleagues didn’t go home empty-handed as well.

Held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, the Golden Globes gala evening was hosted by actors Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Apart from the usual fanfare, former US President Bill Clinton provided one of the biggest surprises of the night, taking the stage to pay tribute to Steven Spielberg’s movie Lincoln and to the iconic 16th US president. He himself got a standing ovation.

British songstress Adele made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth in October, and won best song for the theme tune from James Bond blockbuster, Skyfall.

However, one of the most intriguing moments of the night came from actor Jodie Foster, who indirectly hinted that she may be retiring from acting. Receiving a special award, the 50-year-old actor came out without actually coming out as she teased the Globes, hailing her female ex-partner as one of the deepest loves of my life.

"Seriously, I hope that you’re not disappointed that there won’t be a big coming-out speech tonight, because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the Stone Age, she was quoted as saying.
