American actor, comedian and screenwriter Thomas Lennon has had a pretty illustrious career in the film and television industry. Besides being popular for playing Lieutenant Jim Dangle on Comedy show Reno 911, the 45-year-old actor has also done films such as The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and How To Lose A Guy in 10 days (2003).
But not many know that just like his onscreen character, Lennon is a germophobic and hypochondriac. In a telephonic interview, he also shares that he swears by yoga, thta helped him have a family! Excerpts:
Are there any similarities between you and the character Felix you play on the show ?
Many! Just like him I am a cleanliness freak. I am germophobic. I am hypochondriac and I too keep obsessing about my health all the time. Actually, there isn’t a lot of difference between me and Felix. When I was offered the role, I knew I would be perfect to play the part of Felix because of the fact that he is like me.
Has this been the easiest role that you’ve done so far then ?
I think only our personalities match and that’s why it was certainly not the easiest role that I have played. There was a lot of discipline that was involved while I was preparing for this role... Lots of exercising and right diet too. So it was pretty difficult from that perspective. At least, Matthew ( Perry) had it easier than me (laughs) !
How has it been working with him on the Star World show The Odd Couple?
I have been so lucky that Matthew personally chose me for the role. It’s been effortless working with him. He loves to perform in front of a live audience and I think that’s his strength. To be literally next to him is phenomenal and its so exciting to be there with him on stage.
Just like Felix, do you do yoga as well? How has it helped you ?
Yes! I have been doing Yoga for eight years now. There has been such a positive change ever since I started doing it. I quit smoking, and so many other bad habits. I became fitter and healthier and more confident. I also think that me and my wife became pregnant only because of yoga, because we just became so close both physically and mentally after doing it. It has changed my life and I am happy about it.
