Shah Rukh Khan has impressed Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey with his outing in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. “The film did very well across the globe, I’d love to do that kind of cinema,” says the actor popular for rom-coms like The Wedding Planner, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past.
Matthew, who plays a Los Angeles defense attorney Mick Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer, says that stars like Shah Rukh and Amitabh Bachchan are immensely popular in his part of the world and is himself enamored by Bollywood’s colourful song-and-dance routine. “I wouldn’t mind working in a Bollywood movie, it’d be an experience,” he laughs.
He’s excited about his legal thriller: “It’s the first time I’ve been in the courtroom since A Time To Kill in 1996, feels good to be an attorney again. This story has a lot more to say about the system… how it works and how you work it.” He hasn’t visited India yet, but agrees that its cultural diversity draws Hollywood actors to it. The 42-year-old star is wowed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s “ethereal beauty” and says Slumdog Millionaire is one of his favourite movies.
Is this Holly-Bolly love for real?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: At the Oscars after-party, the Bachchans met Colin Firth. She raised a toast for The King’s Speech actor and later the two couples talked about a possible meeting during their stay in LA. It didn’t happen.
Mallika Sherawat: Mallika claimed that at the Oscar party, Nicole Kidman had told her that she looked “stunning”. Earlier, she said Johnny Depp was looking forward to the Hissss trailer.
Deepika Padukone: Seems Hollywood filmmaker Rob Cohen found Deepika to be gorgeous and “more beautiful than Angelina Jolie”. At Cannes last year, Woody Allen wanted to meet her, but she had a prior commitment.
Kareena Kapoor: Sylvester Stallone was mesmerised by her on the sets of Kambakkht Ishq in LA. She reportedly had a lover’s tiff with Saif Ali Khan who objected to her kissing Stallone.
