Marvel is reportedly planning to bring in a new team for Avengers 3 instead of the old team of superheroes.
Since many contracts are going to expire in Phase Three, Marvel reportedly plans to save the original heroes like Captain America, Thor and Black Widow for later project.
Steve Rogers was previously rumoured to assemble new team at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron that would lead into Phase Three, reported Ace Showbiz.
According to Badass Digest, Marvel is setting up Avengers 3 as "the springboard to... something else," rather than using Avengers 3 as the finale to the Robert Downey Jr./Chris Evans/Chris Hemsworth saga. Downey Jr.'s Stark is said to be leading the new team in Avengers 3, paving the way for a grand conclusion in another film, which would bring back the original Avengers team for one last time.
Another story doing the round is that the third film will be split into two.
Age of Ultron, the second in the Avengers series, is due May 1, 2015 in the US.
Robert Downey Jr is back as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.
Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are added as Quicksilver and his twin sister Scarlet Witch respectively.
After Age of Ultron, Downey Jr. has one more film left in his contract, which was specifically said to be Avengers 3 when he signed on for two more movies last year, including Age of Ultron, while Evans has two more (one of which being the already-announced Captain America 3); Hemsworth's overall contractual commitment is not as clear as Evans and Downey's.
