The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that James Gandolfini could be joining the cast of this criminal drama based on a short story by thriller specialist Dennis Lehane.
Gandolfini, who is still very much associated with The Sopranos, is pursuing his cinema career. After Cogan: Killing Them Softly and Zero Dark Thirty, the actor is vying to join the Animal Rescue cast.
Tom Hardy, Matthias Schoenaerts and Noomi Rapace will play the tragic heroes in this drama. The movie will be Belgian director Michael R. Roskam's (Bullhead) first in English.
Filming on Animal Rescue should be underway by March. The movie will tell the story of a barman whose life goes downhill after he rescues an abandoned pit-bull puppy. The dog's former owner and organized crime factions will try and hunt him down.
