His on screen stints have mostly shown him shirtless, showing off his ripped torso and muscles, but actor Jason Momoa, 32, reveals he is now vying to put on some fabric.
“I’m really excited to be wearing a shirt now. I’ve told my wife ‘when I get old I’m getting fat’,” says the actor, who dared to take forward muscle man Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan legacy with a retelling followed by playing a bulked up warlord Khal Drogo in the HBO medieval fantasy television series, Game of Thrones.
Momoa reveals getting in shape for both the characters was a pain. “I tried to change my body for both roles. Drogo is a king so he has people who fight for him. He doesn’t have to fight himself and by the time I got Conan, I was big. I had to get into shape again and get really fit. In fact I’m still trying to get back to my normal body shape,” says the actor, who is also remembered for his role as Ronon Dex on military science fiction TV series Stargate: Atlantis.
Throwing light on his character in Game of Thrones, he says, “Drogo starts off as a lion and slowly goes against his own clan because he believes in a woman wholeheartedly.”
As part of his character, he also had to indulge in sex scenes with co-star Emilia Clarke in the series, which he found “horrific”. “Those were my first ever sex scenes and they were very awkward. Emilia and I are very close, I love her like a sister and so it was a pretty horrific feeling,” he says.
