French director Pierre Morel (Taken) will film the faceoff between two men in an adaptation of the French novel, The Prone Gunman, by Jean-Patrick Manchette, reveals Deadline.com

Following his brilliant campy portrayal of the villain in Skyfall, the Spanish actor is now attached to play another bad guy in the crime drama. In this adaptation of Manchette's 1982 noir novel, Sean Penn plays a young hitman who wants to retire, but whose past catches up with him soon enough.

Javier Bardem has also signed on to portray the good guy for a change in, A Most Violent Year, a feature project by up-and-coming US filmmaker JC Chandor, who helmed the successful films, Margin Call and All Is Lost.
