The new film will reunite the Academy award winning actress with director, Gary Ross, with whom she worked on The Hunger Games, the BBC reported.
The story, which is based on John Steinbeck's classic novel, revolves around rival brothers who compete for their father's attention on a Californian farm.
Lawrence is set to play the estranged mother of the brothers.
