Chris Pratt, Irrfan Khan-starrer Jurassic World holds the record for biggest opening in the movie history. It is also the biggest hit of 2015. But its latest record has eclipsed everything - it is now the third biggest hit of all time, surpassing The Avengers.

The film has entered the hallowed club populated by Titanic at number 2 ($2.186 billion) and Avatar at the first spot ($2.788 billion). The Avengers had $1.520 billion in its kitty while the dino mayhem film, directed by Colin Trevorrow, has now earned $1.522 billion worldwide.

Jurassic World opened big with a massive $208.8 million first weekend, again exceeding The Avengers which earlier held the record. The film also managed to earn more than Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park when accounted for inflation. Jurassic World is a reboot of the cult film.

Jurassic World has earned $614.3 million in the US and is still one step behind The Avengers. However, its overseas haul is a mammoth $907.3 million. In India, the film made more than Rs 100 crore. Irrfan had recently said in an interview, "Both the industries have their own uniqueness. But Hollywood has a bigger reach and has its own universal language. It is more powerful. It has dominated our cinema. It can affect the business of Bollywood. But, our films are not affecting their business. Its Hollywood, which is affecting Indian cinema."
