Tom Cruise is in negotiations to star in the modern-day version of the film to be directed by Alex Kurtzman. The movie is being touted to be the first one in a series of interconnected monster movies as Universal hopes to build a cinematic universe out of its popular classic creature features. Other potential films revolve around the characters of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein and vampire hunter Van Helsing.
Since Kingsman, Boutella has bagged roles in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond and The Coldest City opposite Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. The film, a reboot of the series starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, is scheduled to release on March 24, 2017.
