You might have seen her in action roles in movies such as Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill Volume 1 and The Man With The Iron Fists, but did you know actor Lucy Liu has also appeared in an animated film?
Well, the 43-year-old actor played the role of the dragon warrior, Viper, in the Kung Fu Panda feature films, and is now voicing the same role in its animated TV series, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, which airs on Sonic in India. “We had discussed doing the TV show but we didn’t want it to interfere with the movie sequel, so we held off on it for a while. I think the TV show is very funny, very well done,” she says. What is her role all about? “Viper is very sweet. She was born without fangs, but she’s made up for it by being a deadly viper,” says Liu, who will also be seen in the live action TV series, Southland.
As for the difference in voicing for a TV series as compared to a feature film, Liu says, “A film takes much longer. It can happen over a span of years! For TV, you might end up doing a session for five episodes in one sitting. It’s more condensed.”
