Matt Damon’s upcoming film, Elysium, has apparently struck a chord with him as he is known to be a fervent environmentalist and philanthropist.

The film, written by District 9 director Neill Blompkamp, makes a strong statement about the various socio-economic and environmental issues that will plague Earth in the coming centuries. Alarmed by the so-called impending doom, Matt says, “Future generations will not look kindly on us. Our grand kids and great-grand kids are going to have to live here.”

The sci-fi film, also starring Jodie Foster, is set in a ravaged Earth in the year 2159. Humans will be shown dealing with overpopulation, poverty and disease, while the affluent live on a luxurious space station called Elysium.
