Michael Caine's The Italian Job voted best Brit film ever

The Italian Job, a 1969 heist caper starring Michael Caine has been voted the greatest British film of all time.

The film which has been remade in Hollywood and is also getting the Bollywood treatment, scored 15 percent of the votes, more than double its nearest rival, Monty Python's Life Of Brian, reported Sun online.

Anthony Hopkins was voted greatest British actor with 12 per cent of the vote, followed by Laurence Olivier on ten per cent and Caine on nine per cent.

HelenJudi Dench won the best actress category by a landslide of 25 percent of the vote and runner-up was Helen Mirren with 14 per cent, in the poll of 1,000 film fans by Sky Movies HD.

Master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock was voted best director.
