Michael Douglas has been cast as scientist Hank Pym in Marvel's upcoming Edgar Wright-helmed superhero film Ant-Man.

The Behind the Candelabra actor will star alongside Paul Rudd, who will play Scott Lang in the title role, CBS News reported.

Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, said in a statement that with Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, they knew they needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves.

Feige added that they felt incredibly relieved when the veteran star agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits
