Mother! trailer: Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem’s guests are scary and intimidating

The 120-second trailer begins with Lawrence and Bardem living a seemingly peaceful life in a relatively secluded town. They like to live in a tastefully done house that’s really dark.

The director of terrific films like Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan is back with another film and it seems to be the perfect psychological thriller of the season. Darren Aronofsky already has a filmography to die for, but that doesn’t stop him from getting darker and more intriguing as he proves with the trailer of his next, Mother!

The 120-second trailer begins with Lawrence and Bardem living a seemingly peaceful life in a relatively secluded town. They like to live in a tastefully done house with really less light. Their professions are not shown, but Bardem is likely to be some kind of artist.

Like typical Aronofsky setting, Mothers! also forces you to look into the dark where the director makes you meet two guests: Harris and his wife Pfeiffer. They don’t show any kind of regard for Lawrence’s privacy and have been shown getting intimate when somebody else is also watching them through an open door.

Subsequently the drama gets intense and Lawrence starts having flashes and visions, but Bardem doesn’t believe her as if he doesn’t care about her personal trauma. The bond between them is slowly cracking.

Interestingly, you don’t get to see what’s wrong with Lawrence, but you want her pain to end. Needless to say it’s a very intriguing trailer.

Mother!, also in competition for the top prize at the 74th Venice International Film festival, will hit the screens on September 15, 2017.
