Axel Foley's return to the big screen appears to be in the making. According to Deadline.com, Paramount Pictures has already recruited Eddie Murphy to play the street-savvy, loudmouthed cop once again, 20 years after the original Beverly Hills Cop.
The reason for this comeback two decades later appears to be the encouraging results of a TV pilot aired last season on CBS featuring the character of Axel Foley's son, who has also become a Beverly Hills cop. Eddie Murphy made an appearance in the pilot, leading to unexpected and impressive enthusiasm from viewers, Deadline.com reveals.
Shortly after the ratings came in from Murphy's TV appearance as Axel Foley, producers took the next step and began work on the fourth film episode of the saga.
The studios have even brought in two screenwriters: Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. The two writers have most notably worked on the screenplay for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
