Actress Nicole Kidman, who was considered to play a high-ranking Amazonian warrior in Wonder Woman will not join the cast of the film. The 48-year-old actress is passing on role due to a scheduling conflict, reported Aceshowbiz. According to new reports Robin Wright may be roped in to play the role.
Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot in the lead role of the Amazonian princess. Chris Pine takes on double roles. He will play Wonder Woman’s long-time love interest Steve Trevor in the present day and Trevor’s grandfather in the 1920s-set scenes.
This would have been Kidman’s second time in an adaptation of a DC property, as she appeared opposite Val Kilmer in 1995’s Batman Forever. The rumour going around was that Kidman was up for the part of Hippolyta. In the comics, she is the queen of the Amazons and the mother of Wonder Woman.
The project is currently filming with Patty Jenkins serving as the director. The DC superhero movie is slated for June 23, 2017 release.
