Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr is not India-bound. Last month it was reported that the actor would be here next summer to promote his superhero flick, The Avengers, with co-star Scarlett Johansson. But the 46-year-old actor dismisses the reports.
“I don’t think I have any plans to visit India for The Avengers. But yeah, I would love to make a trip sometime later perhaps ... I have heard and read so much about India. It will be great to visit the country,” he says in an interview from Los Angeles.
Though he’s not very familiar with Indian cinema, he confesses to being fascinated by Indian movies.
“Yeah I have watched a couple of them and absolutely loved it. This unique way of filmmaking is phenomenal. You express your feelings through music and dance just like a musical in Hollywood,” says the actor.
At the moment, the actor is riding high on success. His latest film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, has already grossed over $100mn (Rs 532 crore) internationally.
“The nice thing this time around is that we are able to honour (Arthur Conan) Doyle even more by pretty much making this a story. A very thrilling story,” he says.
The film, which hit theatres in India on Friday, also stars Jude Law and Rachel McAdams, and has been directed by Guy Ritchie.
