Christina Grimmie, 22, a participant of reality show The Voice in 2014, was murdered on Saturday. She was shot dead in Florida, USA, where she had earlier performed in a concert.
A gunman opened fire at the venue when Christina was signing autographs for fans after the show. The attacker later killed himself.
Christina is not the only celebrity to get killed in such bizarre fashion. Here’s a list of other such unfortunate incidents.
John Lennon: The legendary Beatles singer was murdered in 1980 when he was going to wish his son goodnight in New York. His assassin, Mark Chapman, a young security guard, fired several bullets at Lennon. The popstar was just 40.
Tupac Shakur: Aged 25 in 1996, Tupac was destiny’s favourite child. Counted among the top 100 rappers by Rolling Stone that year, he was an ideology-driven singer. Tupac was leaving a boxing event in Las Vegas the same year when he was shot multiple times. He died six days later of internal bleeding. Unfortunately, the case of his murder never reached any conclusion.
Sharon Tate: One of the most sensational murders ever, a pregnant Tate -- wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski – was killed along with four other guests at her Las Vegas home. The killers were cult leader Charles Manson and his followers who also scrawled messages with the victims’ blood on the house’s walls. Tate was 26 at the time of her murder in 1971.
Gianni Versace: The founder of one of haute couture’s most revered fashion lines, 50-year-old Versace was shot dead by Andrew Cunanan outside his Miami home in 1997. Cunanan, who had killed four men before Versace, committed suicide later that week.
