Most recently seen in Woody Allen's comedy To Rome With Love and the action adventure of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Penelope Cruz has signed on to Ridley Scott's upcoming thriller The Counselor.
The thriller's all-star cast features Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem, Cruz's spouse, with Cameron Diaz rumored to join, according to Deadline Hollywood.
The Counselor screenplay, about a lawyer whose involvement in drug trafficking finds him in danger, is written by novelist Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men, The Road). Cruz will play the love interest to Fassbender's character, the lawyer. Bardem will portray a wealthy business associate of the attorney and Pitt will play a shady character.
Next up, Cruz reunites with Pedro Almodóvar for the fifth time in Los Amantes Pasajeros (Standby Lovers), a comedy about a love affair aboard an airplane, costarring the director's frequent collaborators, Lola Dueñas, Javier Camara and Cecilia Roth.
