Alcon Entertainment has announced that Ericson Core will direct the remake of the cult 90s action movie Point Break.

Core has served as director of photography on The Fast and the Furious and Daredevil, and he directed Invincible starring Mark Wahlberg.

Just like the original, which was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the remake will focus on a young undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a gang of criminal thrill-seeking hedonists. This time, surfing, which was the main theme of the original movie, may be replaced by another extreme sport.

Filming on Point Break will start at the end of the year. No decision has yet been made as to which actors will take on the parts played by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in the original movie.
