Hollywood beauty Naomi Watts’ Fair Game has already hit Indian screens. Though the Sean Penn-starrer has opened to mixed reviews, for Watts it was a challenging role to enact.
“Preparing for this film was very challenging. And we had a very short time in which to get it just right! Everything from car chases and crashes at high speeds, with no safety equipment — belts or helmets! It was very dangerous, and I’m not sure it was all legal,” says Watts.Though her roles are taking Naomi to places, the King Kong actress is yet to visit India. "I’ve not had the chance to visit India yet, but would certainly like to some day."
Preparing for her role in Fair Game also included a lot reading and knowing about her character. "I followed the story in the media at the time it was making news. It was very high profile. But what's fascinating is in the film you see it from the perspective of her personal life juxtaposed against these political events."
"Valerie's secrecy agreement with the CIA still holds, so she's not someone who's easy to get things out of, so you just have to push that all aside! But the background work on the film was very thorough, and the stuff the writers came up with. So, I went with the facts available."
