Vanessa Paradis, Johnny Depp’s ex-partner and Lily Rose, their daughter, have both come out in his defence.

Johnny Depp’s 17-year-old daughter has defended him after his wife raised allegations of domestic abuse.

In an Instagram post Sunday, Lily-Rose Depp calls her father “the sweetest most loving person I know.” She didn’t specifically reference the allegations but says Depp has “been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”

Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, is divorcing him. On Friday, she said in a Los Angeles court that Depp had been physically and emotionally abusive throughout “the entirety of our relationship.” She appeared with a bruise on her right cheek.

A judge barred Depp from contacting Heard until a June 17 hearing.

Lily-Rose Depp is an actress and model. Her mother is Vanessa Paradis, Johnny Depp’s former partner.

Celebrity news website TMZ on Sunday posted a photo of a handwritten letter that it said it obtained from Paradis, in which she describes her former partner as “a sensitive, loving and loved person.”

“I believe with all my heart that these recent allegations being made are outrageous, in all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years,” the note says.

Johnny Depp’s friend Doug Stanhope has also come out in support of the actor by penning a column in support of Depp in The Wrap.

“We’d watched it build like this since before they were married. We’d watched her manipulate and f— with him for years. We didn’t say a word. To each other, yes, but never to him.

When your friend is in an awful, abusive relationship — man or woman — and you risk weighing in that their counterpart is a demon, you know the odds are they will jump right back into the fire and then dump you from their life for being honest,” Stanhope wrote.

“Johnny Depp got used, manipulated, set up and made to look like an a–hole. And he saw it coming and didn’t or couldn’t do anything to stop it.

He may never talk to me again for saying it but I’d never forgive myself for not coming to his defense out of fear or ego.

I stand up for my friends and I tell the f—ing truth.”
