Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr dressed up as Tigger to cheer up a sick boy named Daniel who has cystic fibrosis and invited him to the LA premiere of Captain America: Civil War. The 50-year-old actor put his celebrity status to good use by uploading on his Instagram, a photo of himself wearing an orange and yellow tiger costume and crouching down as if he were bouncing on his tail like the character, and put up his paws, reported Ace Showbiz.
He posed barefoot on grass and wore aviator sunglasses. “Mr Stark here. This is for Daniel who was having a rough day recently. When I’m in the dumps, I’ve found this little get-up to be helpful. PS Would you like to come to the LA premiere of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ as my guest? If so, have your people call my people. All the best” he said.
#cysticfibrosis #myironman #bulliescanthurtme @robertdowneyjr This is my son Daniel and he has cystic fibrosis, he is seven years old and wants nothing more to meet his idol Robert Downey Jr (aka iron man) as he has managed to get past the bullies he faces from day to day by telling them the he too has a extra special port in his chest much like iron man has his arc reactor, I am sharing this in hope that mr stark (as Daniel calls him out of the suit) could find a way to contact me on here as Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with cf die. If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him.
The actor’s heartwarming gesture came after Daniel’s mom reached out to him via Instagram, detailing on the 7-year-old boy’s condition and difficult life with the disorder. She used Instagram to contact the star to get a “little lift” for her little boy after he was bullied at school.
“I am sharing this in hope that mr stark (as Daniel calls him out of the suit) could find a way to contact me on here as Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with cf die (sic). If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him,” Vicky Keyte wrote.
The mom was stunned by the Hollywood’s star’s response — calling herself “a blubbering wreck” — thanked the actor, and took him up on his offer in a follow-up Instagram post Saturday.
“I will keep everyone updated on the build up to the big day on Daniels progress and his day to day going ons and of course his tuxedo fitting that he has asked for today as he wants to fit in like a real star (not that he is not the biggest star in my eyes),” Kayte wrote. “Thank you everyone this is by far the best wake up call ever.”
