Actor Shia LaBeouf was rushed to hospital after suffering a "massive" head injury while doing a stunt at the sets of his film American Honey, his publicist said on Wednesday.
LaBeouf, "was supposed to put his head through a glass window in one scene, but a mishap caused his head to be cut, along with his index finger".
TMZ reported that LaBeouf received 20 stitches and 13 staples to his head and finger followingthe injury.
American Honey - which also stars Arielle Holmes and McCaul Lombardi - is about a teenage girl who joins a travelling magazine sales crew across the Midwest.
The 29-year-old actor, who starred in the Transformers films and with Brad Pitt in the World War Two drama Fury, is expected to resume filming later.
However, his rep played down on his injury. "Shia LaBeouf sustained minimal injuries late last night on the set of his current film, American Honey," said publicist Melissa Kates.
"As protocol, production sought out medical attention and Shia received stitches on his hand and for a laceration on his head."
LaBeouf also had surgery in 2008 on his hand after he injured it in a car accident.
