The Terminator franchise said bye bye to traditional movie posters in a dramatic fashion on Tuesday with the release of an animated graphic poster.

The a one-of-its-kind poster comes ahead of the highly-anticipated Terminator: Genisys trailer to be released on the official site on Thursday.

The haunting poster features the T-800 cyborg skull of a Terminator with eyes glowing red and yellow dentures in its mouth. The face rapidly granulates from the right side of the jawline through the top of the head -- with the right eye blinking and then fading out as the crumbled metallic pieces collect below like sand falling through an hourglass.

This will be the fifth installment of the science fiction action series and hits theatres in mid-2015.

Terminator: Genisys is set in 2029 and will see Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his role as the Terminator, which he began in 1984. This installment sees him train and protect a young Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). Her future son John Conner, played by Jason Clarke, sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time to ensure that his mother is not killed and he survives.
