Don’t expect to see as much of actor Irrfan in The Amazing Spider-Man as you did in the film’s stills. A key fight scene featuring the Indian actor has been chopped out of the Hollywood film’s final cut.
The sequence, which was included in the worldwide promos but has been excluded from the final cut in theatres, shows the 49-year-old carrying a gun and being attacked by the villain, The Lizard, in a lab. In the movie, audiences get to see (his character) Dr Ratha’s face-off with the The Lizard only once, on a bridge, in a car.
After the scene, Irrfan’s character disappears from the movie, leaving viewers wondering if Dr Ratha dies or not, and whether he will return in the sequel to the reboot. The anticipation is fuelled by the director’s non-refusal to Irrfan’s re-coming in part 2.
“You’ll have to see,” says director Marc Webb, leaving fans hopeful. Meanwhile, the film has beaten the opening weekend collection of James Cameron’s Avatar by raking in Rs 34cr.
