The first movie of Universal’s newly launched Dark Universe, The Mummy, is yet to hit theatres, and the studio is already planning to expand the universe with new retro additions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director/producer of The Mummy, Alex Kurtzman, has listed the upcoming Dark Universe movies and there are a couple of surprise additions to the originally-announced slate.

While giving an interview with Fandom, Kurtzman said, “We know we’re going to do Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Invisible Man.”

He also teased additional spinoffs featuring unnamed supporting characters from those stories.

“There are characters within those films that can grow and expand and maybe even spin off. I think that digging into deep mythologies about monsters around the world is fair game for us, as well and connecting the monsters that we know to some surprising monsters could also be really interesting,” added Kurtzman.

The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Russell Crowe, is slated to hit the screens on June 9.
