Artwork from Tim Burton's upcoming film Frankenweenie will be exhibited in a worldwide tour, Disney Studios announced June 11, debuting in Barcelona on June 18-21 at CineEurope.
Other dates for the The Art of Frankenweenie include the Comic-Con 2012 conference in San Diego, California, July 11-15, and seven other countries, including France, England, Japan, Mexico and Canada.
Props, puppets and set design elements from the making of the stop-motion animated black and white film will be on display, as will original sketches drawn by Burton that inspired the homage to classic horror films.
Based on a short film from 1994 by Burton (Dark Shadows, Alice in Wonderland), Frankenweenie tells the story of young Victor, who brings his beloved dog Sparky back to life with a science experiment, only to face questionable consequences.
The voice cast includes previous Burton collaborators like Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice), Martin Landau (Ed Wood), Martin Short (Madagascar 3) and Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings).
The director's artwork was previously on display at New York City's Museum of Modern Art, which organized the show with sculptures, drawings and paintings. It is on exhibit at La Cinémathèque in Paris through August 5 and has also been exhibited in Los Angeles, Australia and Toronto museums.
Frankenweenie, the film, releases October 4-5 in Russia and North America, followed in October by the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, the Netherlands and France, and then rolls out in November in Brazil, December in Japan, and other European markets in January 2013.
