Hollywood actor Heath Ledger's friends and family are set to gather up for a one-off tribute event for the late star to mark the third anniversary of his death. The
star passed away at the age of 28 on January 22, 2008 after suffering an accidental overdose at his New York apartment.
Ledger's father, Kim, has now confirmed a charity gala will be held in the actor's honour in his native Australia in early February, reported
The event, titled Heath: A Night Under the Stars Celebrating One of Its Finest, will showcase the star's Academy Award-winning turn in
The Dark Knight
and the proceeds will be handed to a performing arts organisation.
"We the Ledger family confirm our approval and endorsement for the one time only Heath tribute night and are pleased donations from the proceeds will benefit Telethon, His Majesty's Theatre Foundation & Australians in Film," said a statement from Kim Ledger.
co-star Sienna Miller and his friend, supermodel Gemma Ward, are expected to appear at the event, which will be held on February 12 in Perth.
