With Twilight creating a huge fan following in the past few years, the latest to fall in the trend is the 'Vampire Hickey'.
Apparently Twilight's copycat teens are following the footsteps of the world's famous on-screen vampire Robert Pattinson. In order to prove their love they have started biting one another. The vampire hickey seems to be the latest way youngsters are marking their territory, according to a report on CBS website.

While this trend may seem strange, it is also dangerous and can spread disease. "The bites on the skin may provoke serious skin infections that the teens are not aware of", says CBS medical reporter Dr. Jennifer Ashton. The parents on the other hand aren't only worried about the health issues as the teens are marking the vampire hickey as a symbol of ownership. The parents also believe that the new found trend is not only a way of marking a person but it is also a form of physical and emotional abuse.
