A Punjabi parody of the record-breaking horror movie It is being shared online, garnering popularity of its own. The video, posted on Facebook by The Mistry, has been viewed more than 3 lakh times since September 22.

It’s a comedic parody of one of the film’s opening scenes, in which the demonic clown Pennywise is introduced. In the scene, a young boy is murdered by Pennywise in the most gruesome manner after the boy’s paper boat floats into a sewer, which is where Pennywise lives.

After taunting the boy with the boat, Pennywise grabs onto his arm and rips it off. But with a Punjabi voiceover, the scene takes on a new life.

“Badi soni boat rakhi hai tu,” Punjabi Pennywise, from Bathinda, says, and then breaks into a dance with Daler Mehndi’s Tunak Tunak playing in the background.

“I was cracking up while doing this voiceover,” the video is captioned.

It has broken several box office records since opening worldwide in September. The film is the highest-grossing horror film of all time (eclipsing the Exorcist’s record), in addition to being the highest-grossing September release. The film’s box office tally stands at $550 million globally.
