Emma Watson, who for 10 years was everyone’s Hermione Granger, met her successor, Noma Dumezweni and shared several pictures of their meeting on her Facebook page.
Watson played Hermione, Harry Potter’s bright, clever, best friend in 8 films. Dumezweni took on the role, controversially, back in December. And fans’ protests over her casting -- mostly because of her appearance -- reached fever pitch in the weeks before Harry Potter and the Cursed Child began previews on June 7.
For her part, Watson has always been supportive of the decision. Back in January, she tweeted: “Can’t wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year.”

And now, she finally has. She wrote a moving post on Facebook about her experience watching the play, and her feelings towards Hermione after all these years.
“Meeting Noma and seeing her on stage was like meeting my older self and have her tell me everything was going to be alright, which as you can imagine was immensely comforting (and emotional)! The cast and crew welcomed me like I was family and Noma was everything I could ever hope she would be. She’s wonderful. The music is beautiful… I could go on…” wrote Watson.

A script of both parts of the play will be released as a book on July 31. Watson will next be seen in The Circle opposite Tom Hanks and Beauty and the Beast in 2017.
