Gerard Butler recently reflected on his very first acting job and revealed that he thought he had lost one of his eyes after a stunt went wrong. Speaking on ‘Live with Kelly and Michael,’ the 46-year-old star said that he was struck in the eye by a wooden chisel while performing in a Shakespeare play and feared the injury could cost him his vision, Channel 24 reports.

“At this stage we didn’t need the chisels that we had- we had these wooden chisels that they’re supposed to use as weapons, but we didn’t know our lines, and it’s very physical theatre so they wanted 12 guys running,” he said.
He added, “I thought I’d lost my eye, and then I had a black eye probably for two weeks.” Butler also said that the director must have wished he would have never employed him.
Butler will be seen soon in Dean Devlin’s upcoming action thriller ‘Geostorm’ that will hit the theatres on January 13, 2017.
