India opener Gautam Gambhir on Sunday flew back to Delhi before commencement of the fourth day's play in the first Test against England following the death of his grandmother.
Confirming the development, media manager Vinod Deshpande told PTI that the opener took a flight to Delhi
this morning after hearing the news of his grandmother's death.

Reserve Ajinkya Rahane came as a substitute for Gambhir when play started at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera on Sunday.
