As reported last week, Sudhir Mishra had left a message on Facebook asking people to choose the title of his forthcoming romantic film toplining Irrfan Khan and Chitarangada Singh. The filmmaker had uploaded a clip of the movie and asked viewers to decide between
Dil Dar-ba-Dar and
Yeh Saali Zindagi.
And going by the verdict of over 80 percent voters, Mishra has chosen Yeh Saali Zindagi for his film that releases on October 20.
Reportedly, the film was referred to as Dil Dar-ba-Dar initially. “But my editing team felt that Yeh Saali Zindagi would more readily connect with the audience, as compared to Dil Dar-ba-Dar,” recalls Mishra.
The dilemma was the fact that both the titles also represent equally strong songs in the movie. So the director of acclaimed films like Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi and Chameli sought everyone’s advice on the social networking platform. Besides, his assistants also posted the link on their profile pages, and asked their friends to help them choose a more appropriate title.
After seeing the response, Mishra opted to go with the audience choice, even though his production team was more inclined towards Dil Dar-ba-Dar. “I had to take into account the kind of film it is,” says Mishra, adding, “The attitude of the film is more Yeh Saali Zindagi. The film is a funnier, edgier version of Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, so this title clicks better.”
However, Mishra is not willing to let go of the title Dil Dar-ba-Dar off easily. He says, “It’s a nice sounding title and I shall keep it for my next film.”
