With a series of websites offering mock tests and reference material available online, students preparing for board exams are now spoilt for choice.

Websites such as www.cbseguess.com, www.cbsenotes.com, www.gocbse.com and www.meritnation.com provide extensive study material to students. This includes test material and tutorials for different subjects.

“Several thousand students from across the world subscribe to this service. Many a time students hesitate to clarify their doubts in class. This tutorial module is very handy and all material is genuine,” said a member of www.meritnation.com.

Principals and teachers maintain that these websites are extremely helpful as the material on them helps put basic concepts to test.

“With the exams just a few weeks away, students are busy in revision. By now, their concepts should be clear and the more practice they get, the better it is for them. The online practice material, along with all the other resources that are available, can help them test concepts. But this must be used as supplementary material and not as substitute to the main NCERT study material and sample papers,” said Usha Ram, principal, Laxman Public School.

Teachers and principals also said that with the exams being a few weeks away, it was time students got into the habit of clocking their practice and mock tests.

“Students also need to focus on being mentally and physically attuned to the board exam pattern now. So they have to make sure that they are capable of sitting through three hours of a test, without taking any break,” added Ram.

However, it is not just study websites which help students acquire reference and test material. Facebook and other social media websites have also come up as an interactive hub for students.

Facebook’s group on CBSE board examination and ‘iCBSE’ have also come up as popular pages where students exchange information related to the examination.

“Everyone does the same sample papers. It is important to explore other practice material as well. There is no dearth of sample papers or other study material on the web and social media. Most of them require you to sign up but then it is worth it because the kind of practice material available for all streams is exhaustive. If you complete your syllabus and keep doing these papers, it will prepare you well for the exam,” said Rahul Mehrish, a student of class 12 of a prominent south Delhi school.
