The ministry of human resource development’s department of higher education has introduced an internship scheme called MHRD Internship Scheme 2014 for Indian students pursuing graduation/postgraduation/research studies in a recognised university/institution within India or abroad.

The scheme will begin from October 1, 2014 and will be available for one year. The interns would be expected to supplement the process of policy analysis within the ministry by collating information from within and outside. The scheme is aimed at enabling young students to be associated with the ministry in formulation of policies, implementation of projects, and various initiatives in the education sector. The interns will be exposed to government functioning and policy formulation within the ministry. Candidates must be pursuing graduation/postgraduation/research studies in education, social sciences, science, humanities, management, engineering, ICT or law. The internship will be offered for two months initially and is extendable up to six months, if required.

No stipend will be paid for the extendable period. There will be six batches of internship of two months each and a maximum of six slots will be available. A stipend of  Rs. 10,000 will be paid to each intern per month after he/she successfully completes the internship. Interns will be required to submit a report after completing the internship.
