Are you an active cellphone user who has just joined college? How about having a health monitor or a budget tracker on your cellphone? With a range of mobile applications available on most operating systems, here are some apps that will help you sail smoothly through the semester.

Get organised: With the phone being so handy, planners are a thing of the past.  Various mobile apps like Evernote help people organise their work in a systematic and effective manner.

Suggested apps: Evernote, Colornote, Fancy Hands, Springpad

Monitor your health: Counting your calorie intake has never been easier. Some mobile applications have a large food database (over 300,000 food items) that help you count your calorie intake. Several applications also help you do a productive workout. Health monitoring apps such as MapMyFitness use the GPS to track every aspect of the workout including distance, speed, calories burnt, and route travelled.

Build skills: Various applications like Vocab Builder help you learn new words and build vocabulary. “I plan to pursue an MBA after my graduation. Since carrying a book everywhere is not feasible, I make it a point to download apps that help enhance my logical and verbal skills to ace the Common Aptitute Test (CAT). I also download sample multiple choice questions for the Common Aptitude Test” says Megha Sharma, an engineering student.

Money check: Worried about overspending? Download the apps that help you keep track of your expenditures and earnings and manage your money effectively. the Track My Budget app helps you keep track of your finances and thereafter teaches you how to make budgets efficiently. With these apps you can also categorise your daily basic needs like food, education, travel and clothing categorise in the form of graphs to get the complete picture of all the transactions.

Tech connect: Using social networking apps is the most easy and convenient way to stay in touch with friends and family. Messaging applications like Whatsapp and Wechat have become very popular.
