Now that college is all set to begin, we freshers can barely contain our excitement. And what is the next most important step after securing admission to a college? Shopping! Campus life offers a brand new start to your life. So it is only obvious that you don’t leave your wardrobe behind. Out of the bondage of school uniforms, it’s time to showcase the fashionista in you to the world. And what better place to express yourself then college?  But shopping can be a herculean task in itself. But fear not ladies, your saviours are here! It’s time to revamp that wardrobe. Pull up your socks and sharpen your bargaining skills to shop till you drop. We now present to you a few hotspots for college students.

Kamla Nagar
The proximity of this market to the North Campus keeps it buzzing all year round. From classic brands to retail outlets and wayside sellers, it has it all. Printed jumpsuits to bling dresses and short kurtis to floral tops all start at a price of Rs. 250. It also has an endless purse collection ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 450. A variety of junk jewellery at affordable rates is the high point of this market. The price range of the articles available in this market ranges as follows: Rs. 30 (danglers, bangles, bracelets and neck pieces), Rs. 50 (scarves and belts), Rs. 75 (bandgiri kurtis), Rs. 100 (funky sunglasses), Rs. 150 (long kurtis and potlis), Rs. 200 ( designer tops, palazzos, jumpsuits, jeggings, leggings, carrybags, flip-flops), Rs. 250 (long designer tops, shrugs, Patialas, harem pants and bellies), Rs. 300 and above (sling bags, floaters and one pieces). This market is closed on Mondays.

Sarojini Nagar
For people with great bargaining skills, this is a place specially designed for you. All you have to do is be patient and sift through heaps of clothes to find tops and tunics of your choice.

Janpath
This market is very popular among those who love to shop on a budget, especially college students. It’s a one-stop shop for clothes, jewellery, and so on. However, its main attraction has to be jewellery in all styles at reasonable prices. It also specialises in decorative items and fancy bags. The place also has a variety of tops, crop tops, dresses beginning at Rs. 250 and going up to Rs. 800. There’s also a wide variety of ethnic wear to choose from.
Have a great time shopping!

Boys go shopping
While girls may have to shop at a whole lot of places to find even one good pair of earrings, we boys have it easy. For us, short colourful tees with quirky messages, canvas shoes and a comfortable pair of jeans is good enough.

Investing in a good pair of sunglasses is a good idea. Putting in money on a good brand is worth it as it will last long and never go out of style.

For boys, the good shopping spots are Nehru Place and Gaffar Market — which offer a number of options.

You might want to walk down the streets and pick up interesting stuff that you come across. There is, in fact, a range of interesting accessories from wristwatches to shoes to choose from.
