Even as Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) conducts exams twice a year - May/June and October/November - for students from the age of five to 19, it has planned to introduce another series of exams in March, in addition to the already existing exams. As William Bickerdike, regional manager, South Asia, CIE, points out, “A lot of schools that use our curriculum in India suggested that we conduct exams in March, so that students can use the results (which will be out in May) to enrol in local colleges. We will continue to offer the June and October exams too, in order to ensure that students get to choose an ideal time to take the tests.”

With the new March exam series that starts in 2015, students will be able to take up more subjects, and the move is aimed at encouraging more students to take up these exams.
“We have surveyed schools to find out what subjects can be introduced and we are sure that this will benefit them in the long run, as these exams carry international recognition,” he adds. For more information on CIE,  log on to
