The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 got off to a cracking start as hosts England defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets in a high-scoring thriller at The Oval.

The star for Bangladesh was Tamim Iqbal. He became the first Bangladesh player to slam a century in the ICC Champions Trophy by blasting 128, his ninth ton overall. He shared a partnership of 166 runs for the third wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim (79) as Bangladesh reached 305/6. However, a blazing knock of 95 from Alex Hales revived England but Joe Root stole the show with a brilliant 133, his 10th in ODIs as England coasted to victory. Watch video highlights here.
