The main opposition party, the BJP, on Tuesday termed the rail budget presented by railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal as a "Rae Bareli budget" and said the minister ignored the NDA-ruled states.
Rae Bareilly, in Uttar Pradesh, is Congress president Sonia Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency.
Talking to reporters after the presentation of the rail budget in the Lok Sabha, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha accused the UPA government of being biased in the budget.
"Some people rightly said that this is Rae Bareli budget. There is nothing for Jharkhand in the budget," Sinha, MP from Hazaribagh, said.
He slammed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for 'economic problems' and said the government has made the Indian Railways a "sick organisation".
Reacting to the rail budget, senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha termed it as "very disappointing" budget.
He said the government ignored Bihar in the budget.
"The rail budget is disappointing. The last five years have seen four railway ministers. This government has lost credibility. Investment in the railways will not come in such situation," BJP MP Anurag Thakur said.
He alleged that there was nothing special for the common man in the budget.
