Leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s reference to the TDP members as buffoons created a ruckus in the House on Friday.

The House was debating the law and order situation in the state as demanded by the YSRCP. The party alleges that about a dozen political murders (of YSRCP leaders and cadre) took place in the state since Chandrababu Naidu took over as the chief minister.

However, the ruling party MLAs dwelled into past pointing to a high profile murder of a TDP leader Paritala Ravi ten years back when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the chief minister. A few TDP MLAs alleged Jaganmohan’s hand in the murder which infuriated him. Ravi’s life and murder were inspiration for several movies including Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra.

“There have been enquiries (on the murder). These are irrational accusations. Why should I be blamed by these buffoons for some wrong I did not commit?” Reddy shot back.

With the TDP members storming the well demanding an apology from Reddy, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasadarao adjourned the House for a while.

On reconvening, the speaker requested Reddy to withdraw his “sweeping remarks” which the YSRCP chief did not oblige. “They call me a murderer, a monster and refer to my party people as smugglers,” Reddy said.

With the ensuing commotion Kodela adjourned the house till Saturday. TDP is demanding suspension of Reddy from the house. Speaking to reporters later Reddy said he would apologize if the TDP leaders apologise for their remarks on him.
