10 women die in Rajasthan boat capsize

Ten women drowned on Friday after the boat they were in capsized in Bisalpur Dam in Rajasthan’s Tonk district.

 
Tonk superintendent of police Satyendra Singh said 16 women along with a boatman, Kanwar Ali, were in the boat. The women were heading to work in fields as labourers.
 
“The boat capsized in the middle of dam around 10am. The six who survived knew how to swim. All 10 deceased belonged to Kasir village near the dam and were on their way to Nagadia village to work in the fields,” Singh said. 
 
It is yet to ascertained why the boat capsized. The police have detained Ali and have registered a case against him.
