2 gangrape accused file petition claiming they are minors

Two persons accused of gangraping an under-age girl have filed a petition in a local court claiming that they are minors and should be tried in a juvenile court. Ashu and Nitin Pal, who are accused of abducting and raping a minor girl, along with five others, on January 9, have submitted school certificates in support of their claim.

Additional chief judicial magistrate Vishnath has ordered the duo to send the application along with remand papers to the juvenile court for deciding their age.A minor girl was abducted and gangraped by seven people when she was going from Shikshak colony in Muzafarnagar.

Five accused were arrested and later one more surrendered in court.After the decision of the Juvenile Justice Board in the Delhi gangrape case, declaring one accused minor, two accused here have filed the petition claiming they are minors to get lighter sentence.
