Firing along the LoC in Poonch continued till early Friday morning. Pakistan has, however, claimed its two soldiers had died in the Thursday firing.

"Farzana (4-year-old) and Noor (50-year-old) were injured in the firing from across the border in Kerni village along the LoC. They were shifted to a medical college on Thursday night," Poonch deputy commissioner said.

In all, five people have been injured in Pakistani firing in the past one week in villages along the border district.

Pakistan fired at forward posts in Balnoi, Banwat and Balno battalion sectors along the LoC on Thursday night. Defence spokesperson Col RK Palta said troops fired back and firing stopped around 4.30 am on Friday.

According to Pakistan newspaper Dawn, two more troops of the Pakistani army had died in fresh firing by India. The paper had reported that soldier Gul Wahab was killed in the hot spring (locally called 'tataa pani' area) sector and lance naik Habibullah in the Rakhchakri sector of Rawalakot on Thursday. It had said that three Pakistani soldiers and two civilians had died in the firing. The Poonch-Rawalakote bus service was started in 2008.

Some of the schools that were closed have been opened. "Three schools in Dubi area along the LoC that were closed on Wednesday because of heavy firing have been reopened," chief education officer Poonch Asharaf Chouhan said.

Poonch district has a population of 5 lakh and 1,495 schools, majority ofwhich are along the LoC.
